Today’s modern bride is free to wear any color wedding dress of their choosing. The decision to wear white or not was often to literally tied to a bride’s wholesomeness in the past. One bride may select a historical theme for her wedding and require a formal burgundy or jewel-toned dress with a hoop skirt. The next bride may be interested in a beach setting which might lend itself more to a pale pink gown with spaghetti straps. Nothing is off limits. Even the previously taboo black wedding dress is extremely popular with modern brides.
Today a wedding dress is chosen based on how it fits with the style of the wedding, the bride’s personality and her body type. Bridal magazines have many advertisements and pictures of beautiful gowns that are not the traditional white and bridal shops even have many selections on hand for brides see in person.
