Loose tea and tea pots? Where do I start?!!!?
I am a recovering juice addict trying to become a daily tea drinker but don’t know where to begin. Spent some time in Teavana but became a bit overwhelmed with the types of teas and pots. Ceramic, porcelain, glass, cast iron…which is the best? I was told cast iron was the best for holding heat and expanding flavors. Is this true? I am a healthy eater and drinker not really looking to become die hard tea enthusiast or spend a lot of money; just looking for another way to live healthy and understand which teas are beneficial to the body. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi! I work in a Teavana and have people come in ALLLL the time that get a bit overwhelmed with all of the options. To answer your question about tea pots…cast irons ARE the best and the best one to get if you are really serious about drinking tea, for a number of reasons. They do keep the tea hot the longest, and honestly the taste of tea made in a cast iron is the best in comparison to anything else. Over time it also forms a mineral layer inside which adds to your health benefits. Also good… is that they will last you a long time compared to other options.
Since you don’t want to spend a lot of money, you could always try teapots Teavana has called Beehouse teapots. They make about 3 cups, and include the tea infuser. Also nice is that some are microwaveable and dishwasher safe. Last I would suggest the tea infuser that drops right in your cup, or the Perfect Teamakers. They are easy to use, very convenient, and the least expensive. It’s really up to you though as far as what is best for your lifestyle!
As far as tea is concerned…White tea is THE healthiest tea you can drink. Contains the most antioxidants out of all teas. They are all very light in flavor as well. Green tea is next in line as far as health benefits are concerned. Then you have your oolong teas, which are good for digestion and metabolism. Black tea, which is good for lowing blood pressure and cholesterol, and just good for the heart in general. Herbal and Rooibos teas have a lot of vitamins and minerals, and are caffeine free. Again, it depends on what health benefits you are looking for, and your taste preference.
