Primary Showing John McCain Beating Tea Party
Sometimes old dogs do learn new tricks. J.D. Hayworth was endorsed by the Tea party within the Arizona Republican Primary and John McCain needed to beat him. John McCain isn’t the only incumbent facing a similar candidate, but McCain nevertheless knows how to campaign. Hayworth will have to wait six years to run again after losing the primary. Numerous wonder how the Tea Party will come out within the end while watching the Alaska Senate race and Florida Senate race.
McCain does better than Tea Party
Senator John McCain was defeated within the last presidential election as a republican. He had to fight in this primary. Former congressman J.D. Hayworth, a Republican and Tea Party darling, was gunning for his Senate seat, along with many other anti-incumbent candidates. Hayworth ended up showing his hostility toward the Washington establishment. This didn’t help him at all. 60 percent of the vote went to McCain. That means Hayworth only received 30 percent of the vote. An immigration stance change came from McCain, says CNN. He also spent $20 million on his campaign this time. Democrats do not stand a chance this year.
Senate results in Florida
The Florida election results 2010 should prove interesting. Governor Charlie Crist is running as an independent. The Republican candidate, and also a Tea Party heavy, is Marco Rubio, a member of the Florida legislature. Kendrick Meek upset Jeff Greene after the Democratic primary ended. Greene paid for his campaign by himself. This didn’t seem to help within the primary.
Alaska up for grabs
Sarah Palin is in Alaska. This is part of why the U.S. Senate race is being watched. Longtime incumbent Lisa Murkowski faces a challenge within the Republican primary from Jeff Miller, a Tea Party affiliated candidate who also has an endorsement from Sarah Palin. The race was close to a tie. Miller led by a very small amount. November will show the actual success of the Tea Party, although the primaries have shown just a little success.
