Do you think it’s impressive that….?
A 15 year old, been working at a kids playland centre with cafe for 10 days. Has learned to: Make espresso coffees including: white filtered, long black, moccachino , latte, flat white, hot chocolate cappuccino (that’s all I can remember) in just 3 days? Also knows how to work money till, make tea, fry food etc. chips, nuggets etc…
I think I am the youngest person working at my job, and youngest coffee maker there. Also there are other things, but can’t be bothered listing them.
Do you think that is impressive for a 15 year old in just 10 days of working? Mind you I’m still learning stuff and asking questions everyday!
Sounds like you are doing right and the advice is solid: always go the extra mile even if people older and should be wiser than you are slacking off.
One mistake I made as a younger person is allowing coworkers to set the tone for my work and attitude — many times these were glazed over and tired and noncaring workers. I let them influence me and ended up not going the extra mile. As the new and young person I naturally appeared lazier than them and lost positions as a result.
You sound very eager and driven. When I was a barista I had to see the menus/recipes for the different coffees for a while before I got the hang of and messed some up too. And I WAS older than 15 LOL.
