Tea is one of the healthiest beverages around so it’s only appropriate to always maintain it in excellent condition. One of the best methods in preserving tea is to store it in an airtight container and keep it from moisture build-up and light penetration.

A tea tin is basically a stainless steel box usually measuring 4-inch in diameter and 4-inch in height, where tea is stored and securely sealed with a cover lid. Whether you enjoy your tea loose or in bag, a tea tin is the best choice for storage.
Nowadays, tea tins come in many shapes, sizes, designs and even material. Few are made of tin anymore despite the name. A new range of materials are used to make tea tins such as porcelain, glass and even wood. Some tea tins are simply round or octagonal in shape where you can directly place your loose tea leaves. Others feature mini compartments with individual seals within the box fitting for those who want to store their tea separately. Depending on the manner they are stored and the frequency of opening the lid, top-quality teas can actually be kept fresh for up to a year.
You will be amazed at the wide range of variety available when buying tea tins. The attractive and intricate designs make it difficult to choose which tea tin you’d like to take home. Some are quite expensive with prices ranging up to hundreds of dollars, but if you want to settle for a much simpler tea tin, there are many available in stores or online that offer the same storage characteristics.
Now, if you think tea tins are meant to purely store tea, think again. There are a whole lot more things you can do with an empty tea tin than discarding it in the trash can. Tea tins come from around the world and every country from which it originates has a distinct design. That said, tea tins will make a striking home decor such as colorful table centerpieces, vases and furniture displays. They can even be used to store other foods like cookies and pasta. If you have a home office, you can use a tea tin to hold your pens and pencils. The ideas are limitless.
