A Brief History of teapots
We are all familiar with the power functions of the teapot . But there is more to it than a teapot handle and spout. In fact, the ship has a great humility, a rich history that began in ancient China.
The humble beginnings teapots
The first teapots origin in ancient China and were made from cast iron. Over time they started porcelain teapots and decorated with fruit and flowers. As the idea of decorating teapots grew, it became more a decorative object in the house as well as a functional element in the kitchen.
The tea arrived in Europe in the 17th century with the arrival of tea from Asia. Although these elements were Originally available only to the upper class, by the 18th century, Europeans began to make porcelain teapots made them more affordable and therefore accessible to all.
The oldest pot still intact today dates back to 1513 and originated in China. It currently resides in Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware in Hong Kong.
