Rental Business: Tenant wants to leave items in apartment?
Hi,
I am a landlord. A good tenant who is leaving soon sent me a note asking if he can leave the following items in the apartment for my future tenant:
low metal legal size cabinet
teak stereo cabinet with sliding tray for keyboard
chrome table with 3 chairs
hunter green loveseat couch
floor lamp
metal bed platform ready to place mattress
metal headboard
pictures
new toilet seat
new curtain rods
dishes/utensils
small TV
orange desk chair no wheels
I think I will ask him to take everything with him and leave the unit empty like it was when he moved in.
The reason is I do not know who the new tenant will be and what his needs will be and I’m not into selling stuff in flee markets.
However, wanted to ask how you usually respond to such a request from a tenant(?)

I agree with the first answer, Goodwill will come and pick up items.
I do this when tenants leave usable furniture in my places, but we also charge up to $50 per item for anything that needs to be removed and trashed.
