Tea, The Fantasticly Versital Leaf

Tea is a very versatile drink; it can be hot or cold and comes in a wide variety of flavors. Unfortunately, some folks are intimidated by the prospect of choosing the “right” tea and are unsure how to make it properly once they do. Many newbie tea drinking make the mistake of thinking that all teas can be made in the same way. The following quick tips for finding the right tea and making it correctly once you do have been assembled in the hopes that they will help more people enjoy the beauty of drinking tea.

Tea seems like a simple thing, pour hot water over tea leaves and let them sit for a minute or two. To avoid bitterness, green teas should only been steeped for 2-3 minutes. A black tea requires hotter water, generally about 212 degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees Celsius, and a longer steep than the more delicate green and white teas. White teas, much like green teas, require water that is not quite as hot as when making a black tea and can be steeped faster. Also some teas taste silly with anything in them, while others beg for sugar, milk or even lemon; but that is all personal preference.

Another great thing about tea is that there is a flavor to suit everyone out there. The clean, mellow flavor of green teas combined with their proven health benefits have made them widely popular both as beverages and additives to food in recent years. Earl Grey is also a very popular tea and it has a slightly citrus taste. Herbal teas vary greatly in flavor and steeping process and may include a variety of different ingredients, including rose hip, sage, lemon grass, and Echinacea. Many children prefer herbal teas rather than black or green teas because they often taste similar to fruit juice. Chai is another popular tea and it is often consumed with milk and honey. In the past few years, white tea, which has a light and delicate flavor, has been increasing in popularity. Now that you know a little bit more about the various kinds of tea, get out there and try some!

Although tea is obviously intended to be consumed as a beverage, that doesn’t mean you need to drink it by itself; there are a variety of specialty tea snacks that go great with a cup of tea. Red teas are generally good dessert teas and go well with sweets. Green tea goes good with light simple tastes like wafer cookies or delicately flavored sandwiches. White tea is actually more of a subtle, dainty flavor. Try it with raw fruit and all natural snacks. Many teas, especially green tea, is also increasingly popular as a food additive and help enhance not only the flavor but also the healthiness of the food.

Some of the most common teas people enjoy are loose leaf tea, green tea and earl grey tea

Now that you have the basics about buying, steeping, and consuming tea, go out and get some! The wide world of tea is waiting. Experiment with tea and enjoy its plethora of flavors.
