They Don’t Want You To Know About The Lost Secret Of Background Checks
It is rather rare for banks and other large organizations to hire outsiders to do background checking on staff for them. Most times they have their own human resources departments that do the ground work and come up with the results. Those who employ PIs or police records cannot afford to pay continuous salaries for the same functions. They are smaller businesses.
Back in the day, it might have been quite a lot of trouble trying to dig up buried information about people, but not anymore. Because of technology and improved civilization, it is now possible to source for information on the Internet and through other public services or do an inteligator review. Many useful records are now available for as many people as may be interested. So conducting background investigation on a probable workforce shouldn’t be too much of a difficulty.
Even if you don’t bother too much about your interviewee’s past, you should at least try verifying their addresses or their educational histories otherwise you may give yourself a panic atack. If they do not live where they claim to live, then you might have trouble reaching them at some very urgent time. If they are not qualified as they claim to be, they should not get the job. In any case, if they have lied on their applications, they shouldn’t even be considered in the first place
People lie about their age, their school grades, their relationships. People even lie about their sex; why should there be any question about if they lied about their past? It is something you as a potential employee should understand and anticipate. And it is why you should have a team ready to check up on the applicants that you have so that they can substantiate their declarations.
Falsified records are a dime a dozen. You could get them on the corner of just some street or even off of the Internet for a small fee. Curiously, the same Internet provides means of corroborating or contradicting these claims. If not, you could contact the police to help you out, or you could use a PI. Whatever the case, you don’t want to hire someone without some background checking.
Securing another job once you have been involved in a bankruptcy with a previous firm can be a bit tricky. It is worse when this little bit of information is public knowledge; no one trusts you, least of all the management of the founding you are just applying to for a job. Many assume that you were directly involved and sometimes are lax in their background checking – their minds are already made. So, in the same way that if you were building a garden shed with shed plans you need to be organised. It is the same thing here.
Pre-employment screening is pure common sense. It gives you the chance to get to know your employee beyond just what the book says. You get an insight into their past, and you have an idea of what beliefs they stand for. Chiefly, you can get to know if they are reliable enough to work with you.
Depending on the size of a firm, different approaches are used for a background check. Some have their own teams, which are full time staffs as well; others consult police records; while some hire private detectives that are known to do great jobs. Other factors that affect the choice or thoroughness of approach are the sensitivity of the business done by the firm, or the amount of integrity required.
