HEY, LET’S PARTY KIDS

At a loss for ideas for your kid’s birthday party ?
A theme is often a good idea as it focuses all the activities.Kids can put on fancy dress to get into the swing of things and it’s very easy to adapt various games and entertainment to activate the theme.Plus, with a little imagination and research, the party eats can be turned into themed goodies, such as spider biscuits for a Spiderman party or witches’ brew for some Harry Potter magic.
Bouncy castles come in a vast range of themes and characters these days, and the inflatable can be the centre of all the party action. You can have Batman doing the bouncing, Superman or Shrek, perhaps Ariel or Disney Princess or even Spongebob – there’s a wide range available.  But always check that you’re hiring a jumping castle from a reputable firm who only use licenced, quality equipment.Safety – not fun – is the first consideration.
There’s no shortage of games to play, and it’s often the traditional favourites that prove the most popular. There are hundreds of ideas on the internet which can be adapted to a theme – but here are a couple to get started. For a pirate party, pin the tail on the donkey could change to pin the eye patch onto Blackbeard. For a fairy party, the girls could pin some wings onto Tinkerbell.  Instead of ‘Simon says’, it could be Harry Potter or one of the Bratz doing the talking !
Sweet towers
This game can by played individually or in teams.Hand out the same number of toothpicks and a load of small, soft candies eg. mini marshmallows or jelly tots. The children create towers by joining the toothpicks together with the sweets.  The tallest tower wins.
Candy ring
Get the kids to sit in a large circle around a sheet.Sprinkle candy and some small gifts onto the sheet, and organise turns throwing a rubber ring over the treats – they can then claim their prize.
Balloon popper
Insert wrapped candy into balloons and inflate them. The more, the merrier.  Place balloons around the room and get the kids to stomp on them or pop them to collect the candy. It’s busy, noisy and lots of fun.Children love this one.  Always have some spare treats for anyone who comes up empty handed.
Other ideas include musical bumps, egg and spoon races, musical statues, Pin the tail on the donkey and pass the parcel.
Specialist party stores and some supermarkets also sell pre-prepared party games, plus accessories such as hats, disposable plates, tableware decorations etc.
Here are a few tips for the games:
* Ensure everyone is a winner.Keep a packet of extra prizes or sweets to make sure everyone’s happy.  Younger children need a lot of guidance when it comes to sportsmanship, and it’s important to keep the emphasis on FUN
* Watch the mood. It happens that a game doesn’t proceed well, so move on quickly.Find something to distract them with.
• Preparation is vital.  Make sure your ‘box of tricks’ is fully stocked and you have a firm handle on the rules of each game
* Look for children who may be feeling left out of things
* Keep games short
• Mix up action games with more sedentary ones
These suggestions come from jumping castle hire Perth company, which has seen many, many children’s parties over the years of business. The best parties are without doubt those events where the parents have made an effort and done the preparations. There is responsibility involved in hosting a kids’ party, but the memories are worth every minute.Let’s get this party started !
