Children Tea Sets China

Looking for a children’s book….please help?
I don’t remember the book too well, only that some sort of creature (a young female) was saving money to buy a tea set. She wanted to buy a blue china set, but her friend told her that they were all out and she ended up purchasing a cheap red plastic set.
Eventually, she found out that her friend had lied to her and bought the blue tea set herself. I’m not sure what happened from there on, only that it involved some coins in a sugar bowl and the two ended up trading tea sets.
Do you have any idea what book this is? It’s been bothering me to no end,,,
“A Bargain for Frances” by Russell Hoban and Lillian Hoban. I read that book myself when I was kid too. It is an AWESOME story!
