Natural Remedies for Acne – Is Tea Tree Oil Effective?
God has given us so many natural resources to benefit us. These natural resources are used in many medicines to treat minor or severe health conditions. These medicines contain chemicals which have some side effects. If we use these natural things directly to cure our condition, they don’t harm us and even don’t have any side effects. Tea tree oil is one of essential natural oil, mostly used to treat acne.
Tea tree oil is essential oil extracted by steam distillation of the leaves of melaleuca alternifolia. This plant is mostly found in Australia. It’s anti-bacterial, anti fungal, and anti viral properties makes it very useful for acne sufferers. Especially its anti-bacterial qualities lesson inflammation and severity of acne. It helps to kill acne bacteria propioni acnes bacteria which actually cause acne.
How to use it?
Tea tree oil is strong essential oil and can caused irritation if it is used in excess amount. If you have normal skin, miss one part tea tree oil with 9 parts of water. If you have sensitive skin, mix one part tea tree oil and 9 parts aloe Vera gel. First try this mixture when you notice that it does not cause irritation, redness, dry skin or itching, increase the strength of the dilution. Try each stronger mixture for at least one week and then increase further strength.
How to apply it?
First wash your face with gentle cleanser and pat it dry. Then apply this solution to your acne with the help of cotton ball. Apply light layer on your skin. When it dries, apply an oil free moisturizer.
How to make a mask?
You can use mask of tea tree for your skin. Take natural green clay powder and add few drops of tea tree oil, now add enough water to make a thick paste. Apply this paste for thirty minutes on face. If you want of treat pimples, leave the mask over night. You can apply this mask once or twice a week.

Studies show that tea tree oil is very effective for treating acne. In fact it treats both inflamed and non inflamed acne. If we compare this treatment with benzoyl peroxide, we will find that it take longer time then benzoyl peroxide to show its effectiveness but it does not cause dryness, peeling and flaking like benzoyl peroxide.
Tea tree oil is highly used in beauty products and over the counter medicines. Many gels, soaps, cleansers and other related products contain tea tree oil.
